WiMAX WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY
|
|
WiMAX wireless technology is
being touted as the ultimate solution for providing high-speed Internet
services to homes, offices, and even entire cities with Wireless
Metropolitan Area Networks (WMANs). It seems an impressive alternative to
DSL, cable and satellite access technologies. WiMAX proponents tout a range
of 30 miles between base stations speeds of 70 Mbps and non-Line of Site
capabilities. Encouraging trials are underway using WIMAX for backhaul and,
in conjunction with Broadband over Power Lines, Wi-Fi, and other
technologies, bringing broadband access to the end user. WiMAX is expected
to have mobile standards completed by 2007, governed by IEEE 802.16e. The
question is: How much of this is just wishful thinking, and how much is
realty? |

WiMAX could be a
successful broadband solution,
if deployed with: a clear understanding of its realities and limitations;
well-integrated with business, network and operational planning; and used in
combination with complementary and competing technologies where
appropriate. KOHL has the extensive knowledge to achieve this, including
providing:
competitive comparisons;
WiMAX, field testing: vendor evaluations: assessment of scalability,
robustness, upgradeability, susceptibility to
radio interferences: and compliance with
regulatory requirements. Click appropriate link to view our experience
and successes. |
