JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Radio systems
test-engineering specialist positions available with KOHL’s onsite team within
Client’s Radio Engineering Group.
- The group is
responsible for evaluating point-to-point broadband radio and free-space
optical backhaul technologies and equipment as part of our Client’s
Approval-For-Use process.
- Selected candidates
will be responsible for meeting with vendors and testing and evaluating
vendors’ products. This will entail designing tests and experiments;
developing requirements and bench test plans; conducting bench tests to
characterize radio performance and network compatibility; collecting,
processing, and analyzing test data; documenting results; and determining the
impact of results as they relate to our Client’s engineering rules and
guidelines documents; and supporting successful initial deployments in our
Client’s network.
- Selected candidates
will be required to conduct regression tests across multiple radio profiles as
new radio software/hardware is released; will be required to participate in
and make progress on multiple projects at the same time; and will be required
to work both on small teams and work individually (with support from the
team.)
- The ideal candidate is
someone who likes to work on leading-edge technologies, likes to learn new
techniques and capabilities, and keeps current in radio and interconnecting
optical technologies, but someone who is also willing to accept short-term,
expert assignments as requested by internal customers.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- BSEE or BSEET Degree
(or equivalent experience); must have 15+ years experience in R.F.
engineering, 3+ years microwave/millimeter-wave experience point-to-point
radio (with knowledge of governing deployment issues such as LOS, rain
degradation, and interference limitations);
- must have excellent
writing skills, demonstrable through an established record of either published
papers or internal technical documents; must be willing to work fulltime
during contract period at our Client’s Radio Testing Lab facility in Holmdel,
New Jersey.
- Travel will be rare,
but may be required to support First Field Application trials around the
United States when equipment is first deployed after completing bench testing.
A broad background in radio engineering and performance characterization is
required.
- Candidate should be
familiar with statistical processing of propagation data, R.F. and optical
performance requirements, measurement techniques and test equipment, data
acquisition interfaces; interference control and management; and issues
relevant to radio/optical connectivity to our Client‘s network.
- Candidate should have
specific knowledge of point-to-point radio operation using Ethernet over
microwave, hot-standby, cross-polarization, space diversity, and radio link
aggregation.
- Exposure to multiple
vendor relationships will require candidate to have a high standard of
integrity and a strong sense of professional ethics.

NOTE: This is a hands-on Ethernet systems
performance and interoperability testing position in a bench testing laboratory
environment. To be selected for interview, candidate must clearly show his/her
experience developing and implementing carrier systems test plans for
performance and interoperability, and experience using test equipment (i.e.,
Spirent, Smart Bits, Ixia). Experience with Ethernet systems testing and a
working knowledge of IEEE 802.3 and RFC 2544 is highly desirable – however, if
you DON’T have specific Ethernet systems testing experience, but you DO have
experience developing and implementing carrier systems test plans and this is
transferable to an Ethernet systems environment, please apply with explanation.
DESCRIPTION:

facility in Middletown, New Jersey. Travel will be rare, but may be required to
support First Field Application trials around the United States when equipment
is first deployed after completing bench testing. The group is also responsible
for Tier-4 support once equipment is deployed, which may require occasional
participation in conference calls during the maintenance window at 2:00 a.m. A
broad background in Ethernet performance characterization is required.
Candidate must be familiar with measurement techniques and test equipment, data
acquisition interfaces, and issues relevant to connectivity to our Client’s
network. Candidate should have hands-on experience with Spirent test center (or
other Ethernet test equipment such as Smart Bits and Ixia), knowledge of basic
routing protocols (like OSPF), and knowledge of PDH technology and associated
test gear. Candidate should have specific knowledge of Layer 2 Ethernet
performance testing RFC 2544. Exposure to multiple vendor relationships will
require candidate to have a high standard of integrity and a strong sense of

DESIRED SKILLS:
