BPL Hands-on Field Experience

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND FIELD TESTING

   The BPL marketplace is replete with claims of technical prowess.  There many who claim to have theoretical knowledge of the BPL technology, however there are very few resources on which customers can rely, who have had hands on field installation, test and project management experience on actual BPL sites.

   KOHL has acted as project manager, for a major long distance carrier, evaluating BPL technology for its customers.  KOHL provides the customer with project management and project engineering, services to augment their own personnel.

KOHL provides the following services:

·         Acts as the primary interface among vendors and customer in the field

·         Oversees utility and vendor installation teams

·         Develops wireless, hard wire, fiber or Wi-Fi frequency plan for the field trial area

·         Documents field trial data

·         Supervises field installation of BPL equipment

·         Develops test and turn-up procedures for BPL equipment

·          Installs and tests in-home BPL equipment using triangulation, a computerized procedure, against system parameters identified at the outset.

    KOHL also performs field trouble-shooting during the installation.  Following the installation of the BPL, wireless and WiFi network KOHL can maintain records of the pilot installation and operation.   Following the installation of which, KOHL will assist the customer with a technical and economic evaluation against the originally set objectives.  Based on these findings, a final recommendation is made as to the desirability of further deployment.
